After the leak is stopped
Remove standing water, check nearby flooring and walls, and look for water that may have traveled into adjacent rooms. Significant standing water may require water extraction.
Dry the surrounding materials
Drying is especially important where water has reached drywall, baseboards, cabinets or flooring. See structural drying and dehumidification.
